The Niagara Falls State Park offers a different kind of family friendly water adventure located just a couple of blocks away from the park. Known as Niagara’s other “wet wonder”, the Aquarium of Niagara is included in the value-added Niagara Falls USA Discovery Pass package. Originally a privately owned research facility, the Niagara Aquarium Foundation opened it to tourists in 1994. The goal was to create awareness and broaden the public’s knowledge of aquatic ecosystems and promote conservation. The aquarium offers educational and recreational programs, stimulating displays and exhibits as well as exclusive experiences that let visitors get up close and personal with marine life.
The aquarium houses over 1,500 aquatic animals from a variety of ecosystems from the coral reefs to the Great Lakes. There are sea horses, fresh and saltwater fish, Peruvian penguins, harbor seals and performing California sea lions. The Aquarium of Niagara features marine mammal shows and around 40 exhibits including a seahorse exhibit, a sturgeon exhibit, a tidal pool exhibit and many other attractions all throughout the year.
